Located in the southwest of the Dominican Republic, the province of Baoruco is part of the Enriquillo Region. It is also sometimes spelled Bahoruco. Before 1952, it had what is now the province of Independencia. The Sierra de Neiba mountain range and Lake Enriquillo are two of the most important things.
